Plot summary
A spaceship carrying a crew of scientists touches down on the Moon, and below the surface they find a cavern where the air is breathable and gravity matches Earth's. In it live the cat-women, dressed in black unitards, the last survivors of a lunar civilization two million years old whose remaining atmosphere is close to running out. Their leader, Alpha, wants the visitors' ship so she can reach Earth and bring its women under her power. The cat-women have been reaching into the mind of Helen Salinger, the crew's navigator and its only woman, and on the Moon they take control of her, so that she guides Laird Grainger, Kip Reissner and the rest of the men into the cavern.
