Plot summary
Six people who had each been offended by the reclusive scientist Kovic travel by boat to Castle Montego, his mansion on an island near Nassau, where he means to make amends. His housekeeper, Lupe Tekal d'Esperanza, tells them that Kovic is dead and shows them his body in an open coffin, his face disfigured by a laboratory accident. In a ceremony resembling a séance, she reads the preamble to his will; Kovic's face appears and says that one of them murdered him. They must find the murderer, whose share of the estate, more than $400,000, will be split among the remaining five. Among the guests are Matt Granger, Sable, Robert Hawley, Carrol, Doc Corozal and Tunki, a native of the island.
