Plot summary
Wielice, in the People's Republic of Poland, in the late 1970s. Filip Mosz works at a factory. He is an anxious new father and a devoted husband to his wife, Irka Mosz. When their daughter is born he buys an 8mm movie camera and films her first days; he tells Irka that he has all he ever wanted since he grew up an orphan. The local Communist Party boss, because Filip owns the first camera in town, names him the official photographer and asks him to film the plant's jubilee celebration. Filip's fascination with what film can do begins to transform his modest, formerly contented life.
