Plot summary
Traveling through France with his father, young Bram Stoker talks of the horror stories he wants to write, though his father would rather he study architecture. Bandits haunt the woods, and in Paris the pair are set upon by women who seize them; Bram kills one of his attackers to save his father and is dragged before the Queen of the Rat Women. Her lair swarms with rats she commands, and for the killing he is condemned to the burial of the rats. One of the cult's members cannot carry the sentence out. The Queen, taken with him, offers him a place among the women if he passes an initiation.
