Borrowed Hearts (1997) on Netflix

Plot summary

Sam Field runs his own factory and has never lived up to his father's expectations. Dave Hebert, who speaks for the company and is Sam's closest friend, tells him that a wealthy buyer, Javier Del Campo, believes Sam is a loyal family man. Sam hires actors to play a wife and a son, and the rehearsals go badly. Seven-year-old Zoey Russell runs into Sam's house because it looks like her doll house. Her mother Kathleen works at Sam's factory; she once wanted to be an artist but took a lesser job when she married Jerry Russell, who has since left her. Offered a large sum for herself and Zoey to pose as Sam's family, Kathleen agrees, and Sam's staff make them over and coach them before Javier arrives for a weekend.
