Plot summary
Mill Basin is a small town whose parents are conservative, and the heavy metal band Black Roses arrives there to play three nights before moving on to its next destination. The band is led by Damian. The parents resist the concerts at first, and the band's low-key appearance quiets their concerns; the town's mayor, Farnsworth, assumes the group is harmless. Matthew Moorhouse is a high school teacher in Mill Basin, and one of his students, Julie, is his favorite. He does not share the town's view. He senses that the band intends something beyond playing music, and the three nights go ahead as planned.

- The Toronto house used for Black Roses was owned by a couple in the middle of a divorce; when the crew arrived on the last day of shooting, they found all the doors locked and the lights turned out.
- The special effects team of Richard Platt and Michael Maddi was hired after veteran make-up artist Dick Smith recommended them, and felt pressured by the eight-week shoot; the opening demon-band scene took three weeks, with 16- and 20-hour days.
- Black Roses was shot in Canada so distributors would get a better tax deal, and Hamilton was picked on Paul Mitchnick's recommendation because he thought it resembled an American industrial town.
