Plot summary
Eddie Weinbauer is a metalhead at Lakeridge High School who gets harassed by the school's jocks, Tim Hainey and his friends. Eddie's hero is Sammi Curr, a rock star and Lakeridge alumnus whose behavior got him barred from performing at the school's Halloween ball. Word arrives that Curr has died in a hotel fire, and Eddie takes his grief to Nuke, a radio DJ who knew the singer in school. Nuke hands over the master of Curr's last album, never released, which he has copied to tape for a midnight broadcast on Halloween. Playing the record backwards at home, Eddie hears Sammi addressing him and is drawn into Sammi's plan for revenge.
