Plot summary
Dismembered remains turn up at coal factories in Heilongjiang Province, and an ID card found with them identifies Liang Zhijun. Zhang Zili, a recently divorced detective, is assigned the case, which leads him to a coal truck driver, Liu Fayin. Liu and his brother are traced to a beauty salon, and the raid goes wrong. Zhang is shot, and the case is shelved. Five years later Zhang has left the force and drinks. His former partner Xiao Wang, met on a stakeout, tells him two more bodies have been found, each wearing ice skates and each tied to Liang's widow, Wu Zhizhen, who works at a dry cleaners.
