Plot summary

The documentary centers on Aotearoa New Zealand and on the people there who went through conversion practices. Survivors who took part speak openly about what they went through and describe the impact of those practices on their lives. Their accounts run alongside the campaign to outlaw conversion therapy, and the film follows the views that were put forward while the bill was being considered. Views on religious freedom, on personal identity and on what choice means form part of that discussion. The bill proved highly contested, and it prompted more public submissions than any other in the country's legislative history.
