Plot summary
In 1973, Menashe Basson has been home six years since the Six Day War, carrying a battle shock he cannot shake. He knows he will never again be the man he was before the war, and he cannot communicate with the people around him. Most days he drives his red truck away from home for long hours. The young family he made with his wife, Daphna, and their ten-year-old son, Shlomi, collapses. Battle shock is not yet recognized as a medical condition, so Daphna appeals to the military for help in keeping what is left of her husband's sanity. Shlomi tries to work out why his father is different.
