Plot summary
Alfred Butler comes from a rich family, but his father finds him soft and sends him on a hunting and fishing trip to harden him. Alfred takes his valet along. In the mountains he meets a girl who lives in a shack with her family, and he falls in love with her at first sight. Wanting the family to think well of him, the valet announces that Alfred is the championship boxer of the same name who fights as Battling Butler. The claim follows them home, where crowds of boxing fans greet Alfred as the fighter. Alfred keeps the story going, knowing that a bout with a real opponent awaits, and trains as well as he can in the time he has.
