Plot summary
Bob Kane was the sole legally acknowledged creator of Batman for more than 75 years. Bill Finger, a struggling writer, contributed much of the character's mythos, from the concept and the costume to the figure readers know. Marc Tyler Nobleman's 2012 book Bill the Boy Wonder: The Secret Co-creator of Batman challenged that single credit, and the documentary follows his efforts to uncover Finger's history, his part in the character's invention and how Kane came to hold the sole claim. Nobleman also searches for Finger's descendants. Comic book historians and industry figures offer their own accounts of the case and of the credit as it stood for those decades.
