Plot summary
A journalist for The Indianapolis Star, digging into schools that failed to report abuse, is told by a source to look into USA Gymnastics. The paper's team publishes a story in 2014 showing that its president, Steve Penny, had covered for coaches who abused athletes. Rachael Denhollander, Jessica Howard and Jamie Dantzscher then each contact the reporters to say that team doctor Larry Nassar sexually abused them. Denhollander is the only one willing to speak on the record right away, and she says she plans to take her account to the police. In 2015, gymnast Maggie Nichols tells her coach that Nassar abused her at the Karolyi Ranch, and the coach informs her parents; Penny calls them to say he has contacted law enforcement.
