Plot summary
A teenage oni minding a cleansing machine in the other world is distracted by the loud volume of his walkman, and the machine explodes, engulfing him in the evil spirit essence it held. He comes out of it as Janemba, a huge childlike monster able to bend dimensions, and the dead begin returning to life. Goku and Pikkon, fighting in a tournament, are sent by the Grand Kai to look into the disturbance. They find the afterlife's check-in station sealed in a crystal-like barrier that shrugs off their energy blasts, with King Yemma trapped inside. Yemma points them toward Janemba, who will not drop the barrier. On Earth, an army of the dead attacks a city, and Gohan and Videl step in.

- Fusion Reborn's 2018 Blu-ray set with Bio-Broly carried a jacket note calling the films' content potentially inappropriate for modern audiences but kept for their historical value. The films were actually censored — middle-finger gestures were cut — and Toei apologized, offered refunds, and promised accurate jackets on copies shipped after January 25, 2019.
