Plot summary
The Martinez family herds sheep on land outside Carterville, Texas, where they have found gold. Manuel, the youngest son, drinks in a saloon and boasts about the strike. The following day three masked men arrive at the family's house, kill the father, wound Manuel and carry off the gold. Richard Martinez, known as Gringo, is an adopted son who has spent four years away as a guerrilla fighter against the Mexican government. He passes the three masked riders without knowing what they have done. Back home, he turns to Sheriff Lance Corbett for help, since he can identify the killers only by their horses.
