Plot summary

In a near-future society, an ocular implant records everything each person sees, and detectives solve crimes by reviewing footage. Sal Frieland works homicide in the metropolitan police. When he crosses paths with a young woman, his implant returns no data on her, and the frames of her in his own recording are gone. He is then handed several homicide cases in which the victims' last visual records have been replaced by the killer's point of view. Another scene nearly kills him when his implant is hacked and his sight altered in real time. The victims, it emerges, had hired someone to erase humiliating or incriminating passages from their records, and the woman he met becomes the prime suspect. Sal goes undercover as a stockbroker to reach her.
