Plot summary
The animals of Manor Farm gather in the barn to hear Old Major, an elderly Middle White boar, explain that humanity is their enemy and call for equality. The noise of their singing brings Jones to the barn, and his shotgun goes off. Jones leaves for a drink without feeding them, and Boxer, a shire horse, helps the animals break into the food shed. They chase Jones, his wife and his men off the farm, and Snowball, a Large White boar, renames the place Animal Farm and sets down the Seven Commandments of Animalism.
