Fereydoun, an elderly man, has been placed in a nursing home by his children. Shokoo, his former wife, is middle-aged and now married to Reza, who was once Fereydoun's best friend. Shokoo decides that she and Reza will look after Fereydoun in their own house rather than leave him there. Reza is not quite comfortable with Fereydoun in the house. Fereydoun refuses at first to speak to Shokoo. She cares for him as he ails.
