Plot summary
Roz and Lil have raised their families side by side in a coastal town in New South Wales, and their sons, Tom and Ian, both eighteen, have grown up as close as their mothers. Roz's husband Harold accepts a job in Sydney and goes ahead to arrange the move, though Roz does not want to leave. That night Ian kisses Roz, and the two sleep together. Tom sees Roz come out of Ian's room; confused and angry, he goes to Lil's house, tells her what he saw, and stays the night with her. Roz and Lil meet at Lil's workplace and agree that they have crossed a line, then sit the boys down and tell them the affairs have to end.
