Plot summary
Dharmasthali and the hamlet of Padaghattam sit ringed by the Siddhavanam forest, two temple towns joined by their faith in the goddess Gattamma. Dharmasthali lives under the harsh rule of Basava, its municipal chairman, who means to hand both towns' land over to the mining man Rathod and his brother Vikram. The people of Padaghattam, respected for their Ayurvedic medicine, have begun staying away from Dharmasthali. A naxal called Acharya arrives there in the guise of a carpenter and takes up the villagers' cause, striking back at the men who terrorize them. Siddha, raised in the town and schooled at its Gurukul, stands for dharma.
