Plot summary
At Yardley College in upstate New York, Gatsby Welles is a student from a wealthy Manhattan family who gambles and takes little interest in his classes. When Ashleigh Enright, his girlfriend, is sent to Manhattan to interview Roland Pollard, an independent filmmaker, for the student newspaper, Gatsby decides to come with her and plans a romantic weekend. He says nothing to his parents, who are holding a gala that evening and with whom he has a strained relationship. Ashleigh's promised hour with Pollard stretches long, and the director invites her to watch his latest movie with him, which leaves Gatsby on his own in the rain. He bumps into a former high school classmate shooting a short film and agrees to fill in for an actor who has not shown up.
