Plot summary
Five years after Freddy Krueger's defeat, the Walsh family moves into the house on Elm Street that once belonged to Nancy Thompson. Their teenage son Jesse begins having nightmares of a burned man with knives attached to one hand, and Krueger wants Jesse's body for himself. With Lisa Webber, his neighbor and girlfriend, Jesse finds Nancy's diary, whose pages describe dreams that match his, and fires break out in the home. In his sleep Krueger orders him to kill on his behalf, so Jesse goes to lengths to keep from sleeping, walking the streets at night. His gym teacher, Coach Schneider, catches him out and punishes him with laps at school.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Brad Pitt was one of the main contenders to play lead Jesse Walsh but lost the role because producers thought he was 'too nice,' with Mark Patton cast instead.
- Wes Craven was offered the chance to direct the sequel but turned it down, objecting to script elements including a 'possessed parakeet' and a climax where Freddy merges with the teenage hero and appears in the flesh to kill a crowd of much taller teenagers, which Craven felt would undercut Freddy's menace since actor Robert Englund is not physically tall.
- A more sexually charged version of one scene was toned down before filming: Robert Englund was originally prepared to slide one of Freddy's finger-knives into Jesse's mouth rather than just caress his lips with it, but actor Mark Patton was uncomfortable with the idea and the film's makeup artist advised him against doing it that way to protect his image.
