Plot summary
At a kindergarten, the teachers and a group of eccentric parents gather for the dress rehearsal of a nativity play, and the evening turns into a hearing over one five-year-old boy. The staff call the child naughty and want him expelled. His mother's partner, a young man, turns up uninvited to argue the boy's case. His reasons for defending the child are at first selfish ones, and through the evening he grows into the role of a father.
