Plot summary
Karyn Evans learns that her husband Adam, a university lecturer, has taken his student Lindsey Rutledge as a lover. She wants revenge, and begins an affair of her own with Pete Lachapelle, a philosophical carpenter who works on the campus. Adam is deeply hurt when he hears of it, and Karyn defends her right to the same pleasures he allows himself. Adam announces that he is going skiing at the family holiday home with Lindsey. Karyn insists that she and Pete go too, and the four of them head for the snow, where they try to behave like liberal people.
