Plot summary
Robin de Courtenay's father dies, and the brothers of the family quarrel over what he leaves behind. His cousin Roger takes the estate for himself and lays a killing at Robin's door. Robin rides into Sherwood Forest with Friar Tuck and hides there. Soldiers of the Sheriff of Nottingham find them among the trees and close in, until a hidden archer drives them off. The archer leads the pair to a hide-out in the forest, where the outlaws who live there distrust a nobleman. Robin wins a quarterstaff contest against Alan-a-Dale, and the band pulls a hood over his head to test his archery.
