Plot summary
Fred Rogers, host of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, opens with a picture board of his friends and introduces a new one, the journalist Lloyd Vogel. Lloyd works for Esquire, where his profiles are usually take-downs, and punches his estranged father Jerry at his sister Lorraine's wedding, arriving at the interview with a broken nose. His editor Ellen hands him a heroes issue piece on Rogers, saying no other subject would agree to talk to him. In Pittsburgh, Bill Isler, president of the show's production company, is wary of him, and Lloyd's wife Andrea remains in Philadelphia with their newborn son, Gavin.
