Plot summary
During a summer holiday in 1969, Kenji and his classmates build a secret base and imagine themselves fighting villains who want to rule the world. They set down those imaginary battles in a Book of Prophecies. By 1997, Kenji has given up a hoped-for career as a rock star and runs a convenience store. His ordinary routine breaks apart when an old classmate dies under unexplained circumstances and a whole family from the neighborhood vanishes. Around the same time a religious cult appears, led by a figure known as Friend, and the incidents it leaves behind match the predictions the children once wrote down.
