Plot summary
Manoj Kumar Sharma grows up in the Chambal region, where his father works as a low-ranking clerk. After his father strikes a corrupt senior officer, he is suspended from the post and leaves to contest the suspension in court. In Manoj's school, students pass examinations by cheating, and his Class 12 results rest on the same practice. During those examinations the district's new Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dushyant Singh, applies the anti-cheating rules without exception, and the entire student body fails. With his father away, Manoj and his brother support the family by driving a rickshaw service they built themselves. When his brother angers the henchmen of a local politician, Manoj appeals to Dushyant Singh and, struck by the officer's integrity, asks how he can follow that career path.
