Plot summary
On a farm near Enumclaw, Washington, a group of zoophiles gathered to have sex with the resident Arabian stallions. The police inquiry into the July 2005 death of Kenneth Pinyan, who suffered internal injuries in a sexual act with a horse, led officers to that property, where they seized videotapes and DVDs. The documentary sets audio testimony from men in the circle, among them Coyote, H, and the Happy Horseman, alongside re-enactments, and only Coyote appears in them. Interview subjects also include Jenny Edwards, founder of an animal rescue organization, legislators and local law enforcement officers. Washington had no law against bestiality at the time.

- Zoo grew out of the case of Kenneth Pinyan, who died in July 2005 near Enumclaw, Washington, from internal injuries suffered during sex with a horse; police then uncovered a network of zoophiles who held animal orgies at a local farm. Washington state had no law against bestiality, so its Senate voted to criminalize it in 2006.
- Devor said his biggest challenge was finding places to shoot, because horse farms around Seattle did not want to be connected to the documentary; one owner complained that people would think it happened in his barn, which hosts Microsoft picnics. The production filmed in Canada.
- After Zoo's selection for the 2007 Sundance Film Festival was announced in December 2006, H, the farmhand who hosted the men's get-togethers, contacted Devor and consented to an audio interview, which Devor edited into the film.
