Plot summary
Fanny, a student at the Légion d'honneur, a boarding school in Paris, makes friends with Mélissa, a new classmate who came from Haiti after the 2010 earthquake and whose family is tied to voodoo. Mélissa shares that family history with her friends, and the stories reach back to 1962, when a Haitian man was put in the ground by his family after his brother killed him by voodoo, then came back as an undead zombi slave sent to cut cane. Heartbroken after a breakup, Fanny wants a ritual that will cure her heartbreak and approaches Mélissa's aunt Katy, a mambo.
