Plot summary
Gyu-Jung is 29 and has yet to make a living from writing. She works part time at the side dish shop her mother runs and still borrows money from her parents. The man she is seeing happens to be her best friend's boyfriend. Her best chance, as she sees it, is a novel about a vampire. Then a stranger named Nam-Gul arrives and takes a room at the lodging house her father runs. Late in the evening he comes to the side dish shop with a request for dishes made to his own instructions, and he is firm that none of them may include garlic. Gyu-Jung decides he must be a vampire.
