Plot summary
A man regains consciousness inside a car that has come to rest in a ravine, his right leg caught between the dashboard and the door. He cannot recall his name or how he arrived, and two other people in the vehicle are dead. He drives off a cougar with a revolver he finds in the car. The radio carries news of a holdup by a man called Raymond Plazzy, and a credit card bearing that name lies under the passenger seat, so he takes the name for his own. He also hallucinates a woman who finds him. Days pass before he works his leg free; he splints it and searches the car, turning up bags of cash in the trunk.
