Plot summary
The class of 1969 at Skidmore College was all women, and nineteen of its graduates sit for interviews close to their sixty-fifth birthdays. Their year was given boxes instead of yearbooks, each holding loose portraits made with a Turkish artist, and the photographs captured the risk and rebelliousness of the sixties. The women speak about the questions that still shape their lives: marriage, work, and whether to have children. Some of the men they knew in college, professors among them, are interviewed too, and pictures of them as students run between the conversations. Skidmore opened its doors to men in 1971, two years after these women left.
