Plot summary
A car theft lands Cosimo in jail. There an old man serving a life sentence describes a Bellini, a heist so well planned that the inmate never got to pull it off. Cosimo wants out to work the job himself, so he asks his girlfriend Rosalind to find a stand-in, someone who will confess to his crime and serve the time for money. Rosalind and Toto put the word out among Collinwood's small-time crooks. Riley, who looks after his infant son and owes a thousand dollars for his wife's jail fine, is one of them. Basil and Leon are two more. The boxer Pero "Pepe" Mahalovic agrees to take the fall for sixteen thousand dollars. Each of the others says he knows a man who might, for a share.
