Plot summary
Josh Harris, a dot-com entrepreneur who founded the online television network Pseudo.com, believes that people will soon want to broadcast their private lives. In 1999 he gathers more than a hundred artists and volunteers into an underground bunker beneath New York City for an art project he calls Quiet: We Live in Public, where each resident lives in a pod fitted with cameras and screens so that every occupant can watch every other pod. Harris then rigs his own loft with surveillance cameras and microphones, and he and his girlfriend, Tanya, begin streaming their meals, arguments and bedroom habits online around the clock at weliveinpublic.com.
