We Come as Friends (2014) on Netflix

Plot summary

A filmmaker flies into Sudan in a small plane of tin and canvas that he helped to build, at a moment when Africa's largest country is splitting in two and South Sudan is claiming independence. He lands on grass strips and military airfields, and beside UN cargo planes his aircraft looks like a toy. He meets Sudanese and foreign officials, politicians and profiteers, as well as peacekeepers, Sudanese warlords, American evangelists and workers in Chinese crude oil camps. People living beside the oil fields fear being evicted from their huts. On television, Hillary Clinton says a new colonialism in Africa is not wanted, while her compatriots speak of win-win situations.
