Plot summary
The standoff began on February 28, 1993, when agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms assaulted the Branch Davidian church and home outside Waco, Texas. The sect and its leader, David Koresh, stayed inside, and the siege ran for 51 days. The documentary draws on FBI negotiation tapes, home videos the Davidians made, and footage from Congressional hearings on Waco, setting those recordings beside interviews with Davidian survivors, law enforcement representatives, independent investigators, scholars and scientists. It examines the lead-up to the events of April 19, 1993, and argues that the FBI's approach worsened a situation that was already bad.
