Virgin Sacrifice (1960) on Netflix

Plot summary

Samson supplies animals to circuses and zoos, and he is on an expedition into the remote interior of Central America. Benson, his partner, has gone on ahead to pitch camp near the mission run by Samson's old friend Fernando. This part of the jungle frightens Samson: he watched Vicuni natives sacrifice a young woman to the Tiger God and could not prevent it. Going down a river in a dugout canoe, he comes upon Benson's murdered body in a mangrove swamp, an amulet bearing the Tiger God's image in the dead man's hand. At Fernando's compound he tells Fernando and Morena, Fernando's young daughter, about the death. Fernando tells him the Vicuni have kept to their old gods, and Samson sets out for a nearby village to look into the killing.
