Plot summary
Bob Valdez is an aging Mexican-American town constable. Rancher Frank Tanner accuses a man of murder, and Valdez is forced to shoot him. The man was innocent, and his Indian wife is left a widow. Hoping to raise two hundred dollars for her, Valdez asks Tanner for a hundred. Tanner refuses and has his men bind Valdez to a long wooden cross and abandon him in the desert. Valdez gets free and reaches the ranch of his friend Diego, where he recovers. He once rode with the U.S. Cavalry and is a marksman with a rifle. He puts on his old uniform and sends Tanner word that Valdez is coming.
