Plot summary
A first-class resort on Maui is losing guests and employees, and nobody can explain the disappearances. A biologist proposes that an underwater earthquake has stirred a giant prehistoric fish out of its dormant state, and that the creature has found a supply of tourists. The screenplay came from a typist in the production office who had no thought of writing for films. The picture was one of several natural horror films made after the success of Jaws, and it was shot in the Philippines.

- Charles B. Griffith called making the film a terrible experience and said its script was written by one of the office typists or secretaries who had no thoughts of becoming a writer; he believed Roger Corman did it to punish him by sending him to the Philippines.
- Griffith was making an action picture in the Philippines, but the depressed crew had built a goofy-looking fish with bug eyes, so he decided to turn the film into a comedy, and he said their eyes lit up at the idea.
- Griffith sent a comedy back on one plane and arrived on the next, and by the time he got there Roger Corman had already cut 75 minutes out of the film.
