Untamed Fury (1947) on Netflix

Plot summary

In the deep Okefenokee Swamp, families live much as they always have, hunting alligators and selling the hides to buyers outside the marsh. Jeff Owens grew up in this isolated village and left to earn an engineering degree at college. He comes home with plans to bring the swamp schools, running water, new roads and canals, and modern medical care. Nearly all the residents resist the idea, some out of ignorance and others with a stake in keeping things as they are. His boyhood rival, 'Gator-Bait' Blair, holds that the swamp needs no changes, and he turns the locals against Jeff.
