Plot summary

Ray Kurzweil, an inventor and futurist, makes the case he set out in his 2005 book The Singularity is Near, built on the Law of Accelerating Returns and the rapid growth of information technology. He predicts that genetics, nanotechnology and robotics will converge in a singularity where people and machines merge, that humans will stop depending on their bodies and grow vastly more intelligent, and that the line between real and virtual will blur. Technology experts, philosophers and commentators answer him: William Hurlbut warns of tragedy, Ben Goertzel allows for a dystopian outcome, Hugo de Garis foresees a war over artificial intellects, and Kevin Warwick says humans could lose control.
