Plot summary
The Year 2000 problem is a flaw in computer code that could lead machines to misread the new year as 1900, and the alarm around it grows into mass hysteria as people try to head off a possible technological breakdown or a doomsday outcome. The account is made entirely of archival footage, with first-hand testimony from computer experts and scholars, survivalists and militia groups, pop icons and conservative Christians. More than 750 hours of footage were viewed to build it, among them homemade recordings solicited from the public, videotapes sought in people's homes, and material from the Center for Home Movies.
