Plot summary
Several decades ago an extraterrestrial arrived on Earth from a water planet, The Wild Blue Yonder, which had experienced an ice age. His account tells of his race's repeated attempts to form a community on Earth over the years, none of which has succeeded. Through his job with the CIA he learns of a mission in space. In the late 1990s, debris from a UFO crash at Roswell is dug up and examined, and scientists who handled it believe they have caught an infectious alien disease from it. An exploratory mission is launched to Blue Yonder to find out whether humans could establish a new colony there, free of infection.
