Plot summary
In Ming-era China the court is corrupt, tyrants prey on the people, and the Manchurians press a weakened empire toward war. A sorceress called Jade Raksha strikes at soldiers who rob the people for profit, and officials answer by blaming her for the death of Governor Zhuo Zhonglian, so she and her cult are hunted as fugitives. Zhuo Yihang has just been chosen to lead the Wudang Sect, and he must bring the Red Pill to the capital as tribute for the Wanli Emperor. Along the way he encounters Lian Nishang, a fierce vigilante at the head of an outlaw band. They begin as strangers, fall in love, and pledge to share their days at her stronghold.
