Plot summary
In November 2009, cameras start rolling on a documentary about The Union, the album Elton John and Leon Russell make together. The two had not spoken in 38 years. John, once Russell's early-1970s tour mate and mentor, brings him back into the studio, drawing composing, playing and singing out of a nearly burned-out Russell, who is recovering from brain surgery. Neil Young, Brian Wilson, Booker T. Jones, steel guitarist Robert Randolph and a ten-piece gospel choir contribute; T-Bone Burnett produces.
