Plot summary
In the 1980s, Miami is a city pulled by riots and racial tension, and the University of Miami's football program sits in the middle of that change. The university has long been seen as predominantly white. Howard Schnellenberger recruits mostly black players out of some of Florida's hardest neighborhoods, and the team takes on a swagger fed by the hip hop music rising around it. Those Hurricanes become known as the Bad Boys of football, carry larger-than-life personalities and win four national titles across 1983 to 1991. Players from those neighborhoods bring an attitude that changes the game around them and the image of the school they play for.
