Plot summary
In the early 1960s, ahead of the Civil Rights movement, the boxer Cassius Clay becomes a well-known figure in America. He converts to Islam and takes the name Muhammad Ali, and he goes on to hold the heavyweight championship. When he refuses to serve in the Vietnam War, the U.S. government brings a legal case against him, a dispute over race, religion and politics. The account draws on interviews and archive footage.
