Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Stationmaster Meets His Match (1980)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The director went to an institute to cast Bendegúz and set one task: whoever dared to kick him in the bottom would win the part. Only Olvasztó Imre dared to do it.
SPOILER
The last scene had to be filmed twice because Bendegúz did not dare pelt the adults with dumplings, so the dumplings were brought to the next day's shoot frozen. The boy hit Koltai square in the eye, as seen in the film, and the rest of the throwing had to be cut from earlier takes.- Bencze Ferenc was originally to play the bakter, but he turned the part down because of illness, so Koltai Róbert took it at the last moment.
- For the straw-stack romp between Csámpás Rozi and the Bakter, Koltai was not there: a stand-in wearing the bakter's boots rolled about with Pécsi Ildikó instead. Pécsi Ildikó said around 2017 that she was alone in the stack, with no mention of a stand-in.
SPOILER
At the end of the film the bakterház was collapsed by tying ropes to the house and then pulling it apart with tractors.- When Bendegúz is slapped by his mother while eating and his chin bangs into the plate, that was not in the script at all, but the director liked it so much that he left it in the finished film.
