Plot summary
Aditi and Niren Chaudhary come from different backgrounds and marry. Their first child, Tanya, dies within months of birth from a severe combined immunodeficiency condition. Their second child is a son, Ishaan, and their third is a daughter, Aisha. The parents then learn that Aisha has the same condition, and doctors in Delhi give up on her treatment. In London, the couple hear that a bone marrow transplant could treat the disease, at a high cost. Niren takes on work to earn the money and asks for crowdfunding through a radio station.

- Priyanka Chopra Jonas shot her scenes until four days before her 1 December 2018 wedding to Nick Jonas, and the producers set up a separate "wedding approvals room" so she could plan the wedding with her team between takes.
- The song "Pink Gulaabi Sky" was shot for the film, but Shonali Bose felt it broke the flow of the story, so it was cut from the finished film and used only for promotional purposes instead.
- The Sky Is Pink turned out to be the last film of Zaira Wasim's career, coming before she retired from Hindi cinema.
- Aisha's brother Ishaan was the hardest character to cast: the casting directors auditioned a hundred boys, and Rohit Suresh Saraf finally won the part after four rounds of auditions across four months.
- Priyanka Chopra Jonas was Shonali Bose's first choice to play Aditi and was in her mind while she wrote the script, but it took Bose six months to reach her, because her manager would not give her the script to read.
